STEP 1. Okay lets start off this step by drawing the frame and the sword sleeve. Because this is going to be a very simple tutorial to sketch or draw out I didn't use any vertical or horizontal lines going down the middle. Starting at the tip, try and keep your hand steady and draw one long line for the top of the blade. It has a faint curve to it right in the center so keep that in mind. Now do the exact same thing for the bottom of the blade until both sword ends meet at the handle. Draw the handle next by just making a moon shaped that starts on one side and ends on the other, then the boxed handle at the end. For the sleeve all you have to do is draw a very oblong and narrow shape that is squared at both ends.   STEP 2. Now in this step all you will be doing is drawing out the detailing on the handle of the sword. This is a typical diamond shaped design, but you can use any design you want to on your own katana sword. Detail the blade a bit by adding two or three lines to emphasize the detail so it doesn't look to flat. And you also want to detail the sleeve as well. Sleeves are usually wrapped with a type of cloth but you can use your own imagination.   STEP 3. This is a very short and sweet step but it will take some time to get it right. What you are gong to be doing is lightly sketch out the dragon head and serpentine body that is wrapped around the butt of the sword. I used a dragon because not only do I love dragons but, I thought it go nicely with this piece of hardware. After you are done go back and correct any mistakes you may have noticed or didn't notice. Correct the errors and move onto the next step.   STEP 4. This is what your final sketch should look like when you are finished. All that is left to do is color your sketch in and that's it your done. See now wasn't that fun and easy at the same time.
