STEP 1. Start with a small circle for the head, and then draw out the guidelines for the wings and body.   STEP 2. Here you will start drawing out the shape of the phoenix's head and beak like so. As you can see the back of the head has a spiky crown or crest.   STEP 3. Draw the marking line on the beak, and then draw in the eye. Add the shape of the tongue and then move to step four.   STEP 4. Sketch out the neck, and then begin drawing out the ruffled up feathers. We're going to do this with layers from this step on. It's best to keep each ruffle section in proper length.   STEP 5. You will continue to draw out the spiky feathers that will eventually form the wings and body. Notice how I draw feather pieces instead of whole parts. Draw in some of the chest like so using the same drawing technique you're using to form the wings and neck feathers.   STEP 6. Keep going with the momentum by drawing out the rest of the wings, and then you can move along to step seven.   STEP 7. Now you are all ready to finish drawing out the phoenix bird. You can do this by drawing out the tail, and then drawing the legs and feet which are clawed out. Erase any mistakes and guidelines that you made in step one, and then you're done.   STEP 8. You are now all done and this is what your drawing should come out looking like. Have fun coloring in your new tattoo art, and be sure to use it in something creative.   Step 1. Step 2. Step 3.
