STEP 1. Start out by picking your pencils. I used an F pencil for sketching/lines, 3H and H pencils for light shading/lines, and a B pencil for dark lines/shading. I also used an HB pencil to shade in the background.   STEP 2. Start out with a basic sketch of the zombie's head. Use the guidelines if you need them.   STEP 3. Be sure to erase any unneeded lines.   STEP 4. Now roughly and softly shade over the zombie. You can use an HB pencil and a cloth for this. As long as you can still see your lines afterwards, any technique/pencil will do.   STEP 5. Erase the eyes and teeth to make them easier to see.   STEP 6. Now roughly shade in the major dark spots around the mouth an eyes. Also roughly shade in the wounds/ blood spots.   STEP 7. Start adding detailed shading to the eyes. I used a 3H pencil for the lighter shading. F and B pencils work best for the darker lines.   STEP 8. Next, work on the top half of the head. 3H and H pencils work well for the skin. Use a B or F pencil for the wounds. All you have to do is darkly outline the wound and then roughly fill it in.   STEP 9. Next, work on the middle of the face. Shade and define the ears and nose. Add in some scars and cuts here and there.   STEP 10. Move down to the mouth. Lightly define the teeth with a 3H or H pencil.   STEP 11. Go ahead and detail the mouth. Make it as gross as you can. Dirty teeth and all. Add in wounds and scars around the mouth.   STEP 12. Next, define the jaw and the shirt. Try to make the shirt look filthy. I use an HB pencil and a blending stump for this.   STEP 13. Finish up the drawing by shading in the background. You can also go back and add in extra wounds/ scars to the zombie if you want to. I went ahead and changed up the eyes a little bit and added more blood stains to the zombie's skin (for example, under his nose). I hope you found this tutorial useful or at least frightening!   Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. Step 4. Step 5. Step 6. Step 7. Step 8. Step 9. Step 10. Step 11. Step 12. Step 13.
