STEP 1. The meerkat, or suricate, is a African small mammal belonging to the mongoose family. We'll start drawing a full body meerkat. Draw the guide lines. Notice how the hind legs are longer than the forelegs.   STEP 2. Draw the head and the neck. Meerkats have small black crescent-shaped ears that are located at the two sides of the head.   STEP 3. Draw the forelegs. Meerkats have four toes on each foot and slender limbs. The paws have non-retractable, strong, long, curved claws used for digging and climbing trees.   STEP 4. Draw the slim ad flexuous body, the long hind legs and the long tail that the meerkat uses to balance when standing upright, it works like a third leg.   STEP 5. Draw eyes, nose, mouth and fix the form of the ear.   STEP 6. Add the last details: fur, whiskers and the claws of the hind paws, which are shorter than the claws of the forepaws.   STEP 7. Now, let's draw the meerkat in its most typical pose. Draw the guide lines. As I wrote before, the tail plays the role of a third leg. Remember also to draw a long body.   STEP 8. Draw the head and the neck.   STEP 9. Draw the forelegs with the long claws, laying on the body.   STEP 10. Draw the rest of the body, the hind legs and the tail laying on the ground to help the meerkat standing upright.   STEP 11. Draw eyes, nose and mouth.   STEP 12. Add the last details: fur, whiskers and the moderately long claws of the hind paws. The meerkat is finished!   Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. Step 4. Step 5. Step 6. Step 7. Step 8. Step 9. Step 10.
