STEP 1. Start off by making a small circle for the head, then draw an oblong shape for the body of the bird. Add legs and feet guides as well.   STEP 2. Using the smaller circle you previously made, sketch out the shape of the head and hook curled snout or beak. The neck is curved as well as you can see.   STEP 3. Sketch in the eye followed by all of the detailing on the vulture's face. This includes the scabs and scars. Sketch in more of the vulture's neck. As you know these birds sit in a hunched or slouched over pose.   STEP 4. Here you will sketch the large wide shaped wings. The ends of the wings should be rugged and pointed. They are not neat looking birds as far as cleanliness goes.   STEP 5. Draw the torso of the bird, followed by the ruffled thighs.   STEP 6. Now you can draw in one of the legs and talon. The clawed foot should look like it's gripping onto the object it is perched upon.   STEP 7. Draw in the other leg and foot like so, again following the same rule.   STEP 8. Detail the legs and toes with wrinkle, crinkle and crease lines.   STEP 9. Now you can begin drawing the first row or rack of ribs which are in a skeletal form. This is probably from a large animal. Add some shading between some of the rib bones like you see here.   STEP 10. Sketch in the second rib cage, then sketch in the detailing to the ground so the ribs look embedded in the earth.   STEP 11. All you will do for this last step is sketch in the tail and tail feathers, then sketch in scuffs on the rib bones and detail the ground. Erase the mistakes and guides too.   STEP 12. Here is your vulture when you are all done. Color in the scavenger bird to finish this lesson all off.   Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. Step 4. Step 5. Step 6. Step 7. Step 8. Step 9. Step 10. Step 11.
